Filtronic has secured its largest ever single order, with a $68.1m deal to supply SpaceX with UK-developed technology supporting the continued expansion of its Starlink high-speed internet service.

The contract will see Filtronic supply its Cerus E-Band Gallium Nitride (GaN) Solid State Power Amplifier (SSPA) units to SpaceX, extending a long-standing partnership between the two companies.

Production units will begin shipping throughout FY2028 and continue into early FY2029.

Filtronic, which specialises in high-frequency connectivity solutions, said the order marks a significant milestone in its relationship with SpaceX and reflects the increasing importance of GaN semiconductor technology in high-throughput satellite communications systems.

The contract also highlights the growing role of UK-developed technology in major global space infrastructure projects, with British engineering and manufacturing supporting one of the world’s largest satellite communications networks.

Filtronic has continued to invest in expanding its manufacturing capability since securing its first E-Band GaN SSPA order from SpaceX 12 months ago.

Nat Edington, Chief Executive Officer of Filtronic, said: “This follow-on order from SpaceX, is another significant milestone for Filtronic, providing extended order visibility and coverage over the next couple of years. This order provides further evidence of the growing importance of GaN technology in high-frequency communications and reinforces Filtronic’s position at the leading edge of this transition.

“Since securing our first E-Band GaN SSPA order with SpaceX just twelve months ago, we have continued to invest in scaling our manufacturing capability, and this contract is a direct validation of that strategy. It underpins our expectations for FY28 and reinforces Filtronic’s position at the leading edge of GaN semiconductor technology for satellite communications.”
