Durata launches factory-built powertrain solution to accelerate critical infrastructure deployment

Durata has launched PowerCore, a new factory-built powertrain solution designed to help data centre operators and critical infrastructure providers overcome supply chain constraints, simplify project delivery and bring new capacity online faster.

As demand for AI, cloud computing and digital infrastructure continues to grow, developers face increasing pressure to accelerate deployment programmes while managing lengthy lead times for critical power equipment.

Traditional approaches often require operators to source and coordinate multiple suppliers across ring main units (RMUs), transformers, switchgear, UPS systems and busbar infrastructure, creating additional complexity and extending project schedules.

Durata's new PowerCore solution addresses these challenges by integrating the complete power stack into a single modular system designed, fabricated and assembled in-house before delivery to site.

Manufactured from the company's 80,000 sq ft facility in the North East of England, PowerCore combines engineering, fabrication, mechanical and electrical integration within a single delivery model. By reducing the need for extensive on-site construction and supplier coordination, the approach can cut deployment times by up to 60 per cent while improving quality control and programme certainty.

The vendor-agnostic solution supports equipment from leading OEM manufacturers across UPS, generator, switchgear and battery technologies. Rather than steering customers towards a single supplier, Durata leverages its relationships across the critical power market to advise on the most appropriate technologies and manufacturers for each application, ensuring solutions are driven by performance, programme requirements and operational needs.

Designed to support the increasing power density requirements of hyperscale and colocation data centres, as well as modern AI and high-performance computing environments, the scalable PowerCore solutions can accommodate deployments ranging from 10kW to 150kW per rack. Systems can operate as standalone units or be deployed as part of a wider modular infrastructure strategy.

Unlike conventional powertrain solutions, PowerCore can be configured in a range of layouts, including stacked, linear and side-by-side arrangements, allowing operators to maximise available space and adapt deployments to site-specific constraints while scaling capacity in line with demand.

The launch builds on Durata's growing portfolio of modular infrastructure solutions, including its AI:20 modular data centre platform and bespoke deployments supporting enterprise, edge, colocation and hyperscale environments across the UK, Europe and North America.

Lewis Cobb, Global Director of AI Factories and Modular Data Centres at Durata, said: “The biggest challenge facing many critical infrastructure projects today is getting power infrastructure at scale delivered quickly enough.

“Operators are often managing multiple suppliers, competing lead times and complex on-site integration programmes. Our PowerCore solution removes that complexity by delivering the complete power stack as a single coordinated system, configured to the customer's requirements and ready for rapid deployment.

“By designing, fabricating and integrating the solution in-house, we can provide greater control over quality, delivery and programme timelines while giving customers a faster route to deployment.”

Lewis added: "Data centre operators increasingly need a strategic delivery partner rather than a collection of individual suppliers. We take responsibility for the engineering, fabrication, integration, logistics and delivery of the entire power infrastructure package.

“That reduces project complexity, mitigates risk and helps customers bring critical infrastructure online faster and with greater confidence.”
