Yorkshire-based HJ Consulting Engineers (HJCE) has secured work on the next phase of the redevelopment of Pickering Park in North Yorkshire, helping transform a former gas processing plant into a growing enterprise hub.

The Wakefield-based firm is providing civil and structural engineering services to Lindum Group, which has begun construction of 18,410 sq ft of new commercial units for SMEs at Pickering Park.

The project forms the second phase of the regeneration of the 18-acre site. The first phase delivered nine industrial units, all of which have now been sold.

HJCE is supporting Lindum’s development plans with a package of services including civil and structural engineering, highway design, drainage design, hydraulic modelling, sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) design and flood risk assessment.

The project adds to a growing portfolio of commercial development work for HJCE as demand for specialist engineering consultancy continues to rise.

Based at Wakefield 41 Business Park, the company currently employs a team of 26 engineers. Its client list also includes landowners Harworth Group and property developer Opus North.

Andrew Fairburn, managing director at HJCE, said: “The work at Pickering Park is another prestigious project for us, building on previous successes supporting commercial property developments across Yorkshire and the wider UK.

“It highlights both our engineering capabilities and the strong local expertise available to help deliver ambitious commercial developments from concept through to detailed design.”

Andy Gardner, senior development manager at Lindum Group, added: “We’re pleased to be playing a part in regenerating this former industrial site into a vibrant hub of activity that will support jobs, investment and enterprise.

“Our engineering partners HJCE bring critical insight and project experience to the project, and we look forward to delivering this latest phase of development.”
