Sheffield-based Fulcrum Group has promoted Tom Overfield to Managing Director of the Operating Divisions as it strengthens collaboration across the business and supports ICP Dunamis and high-voltage specialist Maintech Power in delivering a more integrated service to customers across the UK’s infrastructure and utility sectors.

Tom, who joined the Group in 2020, will oversee the strategic direction and operational alignment of the wider business, supporting continued growth across its multi-utility, high-voltage and infrastructure operations.

A Chartered health and safety professional with extensive experience in the utility and energy sector, Tom joined Fulcrum as Area Contracts Manager for the South West. He subsequently progressed to Head of Operations and then Operations Director, taking on wider responsibility for national operational leadership.

In his new role, Tom will focus on further aligning the Group’s capabilities and directly employed workforce to provide customers with a turnkey, end-to-end service across infrastructure and utility projects.

The appointment forms part of Fulcrum Group’s wider strategy to strengthen collaboration between its businesses, enhance the customer experience and support sustainable long-term growth across key sectors. These include industrial and commercial developments, energy infrastructure, battery storage, renewables, data centres and residential projects.

The move will support greater integration between Dunamis and the wider Group, enabling the business to draw on specialist expertise, shared resources and complementary capabilities to deliver enhanced value for customers.

It will also support closer collaboration between Maintech Power and the Group’s other specialist businesses, strengthening its ability to deliver integrated solutions spanning high-voltage infrastructure, private networks, renewable energy and wider utility services.

“Around 90 per cent of our operational delivery workforce is employed directly by the Group, which is a major strength and a real differentiator within the sector. It gives us greater control, consistency and accountability across project delivery while allowing us to provide customers with a true end-to-end service.

“Having started my own career as an apprentice at 16, I understand first-hand the importance of investing in people, developing future talent and creating long-term career pathways within the industry. That will remain an important part of our long-term growth strategy as the business continues to evolve.”

Tom began his career in the utilities sector at 16 as an apprentice with Morrison Utility Services before progressing through operational and leadership roles across the industry. During his career, he has worked on major infrastructure projects including Hinkley Point nuclear power station and the Severn Wye cable tunnel project.
