Caddick Civil Engineering Appoints New Managing Director to Drive Regional Growth

Caddick Civil Engineering – the specialist sub-contractor within the Caddick Construction Group – has announced the appointment of Paul Ellenor as its new Managing Director, as the business looks to expand its portfolio of third-party contracts and strengthen its presence across key regions.
Paul brings over 40 years of industry experience to the role, having spent the majority of his career at Tilbury Douglas Construction. He became Yorkshire Regional Director in 2018, with his remit extended to cover the North East in 2022.
He began his construction journey as a trainee quantity surveyor in 1987 before progressing through site foreman and management positions, ultimately moving into regional design and build management and pre-construction.
Paul’s project experience spans some of the North’s most significant schemes, including the 1,000-bed Mount Oswald student accommodation development in Durham and the £55m Integrated Care Campus in North Yorkshire. He has also overseen extensive land remediation, infrastructure and civil engineering schemes – managing projects from groundworks through to full construction delivery.
In his new role at Caddick Civil Engineering, Paul will oversee all aspects of the business, with a focus on operational performance, health and safety, and commercial delivery. A key part of his remit will be to grow the third-party project pipeline while continuing to support existing client relationships and Caddick Construction’s broader group activity.
Commenting on the appointment, Paul Dodsworth, Group Managing Director at Caddick Construction Group, said:
*“We are delighted to welcome Paul as MD of Caddick Civil Engineering. His appointment is a key step in our ambition to scale the successful civils model we’ve developed in Yorkshire across the North East.
“We’ve always taken a sustainable approach to expansion – building strong regional turnover on firm foundations. With Paul’s leadership, we also see clear potential to grow our civils offering in other core regions such as the North West and the Midlands, maintaining the high standards our clients expect.”*
Paul Ellenor added:
“Joining a business of Caddick Construction’s calibre is a fantastic opportunity – and the fact it remains family-run makes it a perfect cultural fit for me. The civils team already has strong values at its core, and my goal is to protect and build on those: securing the right work, delivering it safely and to the highest standards, and getting it right first time.
“I’m also passionate about people. I want to bring new talent into the business, support development, and create a strong pipeline of future leaders – paying forward the opportunities I’ve been given to help drive the business forward.”
Based in North Yorkshire, Paul will divide his time between Caddick’s head office in Wakefield and its new regional office in Durham – opened in 2025 as part of the Group’s strategic expansion across the North East.
