Board-Level Boost at RWO to Drive Residential Growth

Newcastle-based engineering firm RWO has announced the promotion of Sam Innes to the Board as Executive Director, a move set to strengthen its residential structures division.

In his expanded role, Sam will lead the development and management of the firm’s residential structural engineering operations. This includes new business development, key account management, recruitment, and training, as well as contributing to strategic growth plans.

He will continue to oversee technical design and workflow compliance, leading a specialist team that supports major housebuilders such as Vistry Group, Karbon Homes, Taylor Wimpey, Bellway Homes, and Barratt Developments.

With 15 years’ experience in structural engineering and project management, Sam’s appointment comes as RWO targets turnover growth to £4 million by FY2026, with ongoing expansion across its offices in Newcastle, Leeds, Stokesley and London.

“Sam is at the forefront of our residential structures work,” said managing director Ross Oakley. “Since joining us in 2024, he has established himself as an integral member of the leadership team, taking on more board-level responsibility. This is a natural promotion, which recognises his contribution to the business and ambitious plans for the future growth and development of our residential structures work.”

Commenting on his promotion, Sam Innes said: “I am very proud to be stepping into this role and look forward to taking a more hands-on role at the highest level at RWO as we look to develop our activities further and work on more exciting projects with the continued support of our highly talented team in the North East and Yorkshire.”
