Union industries expands service division to support 30% demand growth

Union Industries has expanded its service division as the Leeds-based manufacturer prepares for a projected 30 per cent increase in demand for its high-speed industrial doors across the Midlands and South of England.
The move includes the appointment of Pav Gosal as Service Manager and an expansion of the company’s Milton Keynes service centre, increasing headcount to 11 service engineers. The facility complements the service team at Union’s Hunslet headquarters, further strengthening nationwide customer support.
The investment reflects growing commercial activity across the Midlands and South, where Union is currently delivering more than a dozen projects, each involving multiple door installations.
To support the expanding pipeline, the company has also strengthened its commercial team with the appointment of two additional Technical Sales Engineers: Hannah Franklyn in the South East and Joe Evans covering the South West.
The expanded Milton Keynes operation plays a key role in Union’s strategy to grow its client base by providing faster on-site support across the Midlands and South.
Union’s service division now comprises an 18-strong team of engineers and support staff across Leeds and Milton Keynes. The additional capacity allows the company to respond to servicing and repair requirements the same day or within 24 hours, including weekends and nights, enabling work to be completed outside operational hours to minimise disruption.
Its stronger regional presence is also helping Union reconnect with customers who previously relied on third-party service providers.
“We’re able to retain and maintain relationships with our customers as we design and manufacture the doors ourselves,” said Mr Gosal. “Our team has detailed knowledge and can respond quickly if an issue arises. That level of expertise is extremely valuable in busy industrial environments where downtime is costly.”
Union says its service division is becoming an increasingly important part of the company’s growth strategy, with more customers signing up for service agreements.
In the last quarter, the division generated £42,000 in additional revenue following the introduction of a new service product designed to improve door mechanisms and extend operational life.
Regular servicing can significantly extend the lifespan of high-speed doors. When performed annually or biannually, depending on usage, doors can last up to 30 years, improving long-term value for customers.
Union Industries is an Employee Owned Trust, with all products designed and manufactured in the UK. The company produces high-speed doors for demanding industrial environments including factories, warehouses, distribution centres and cold storage facilities.
