T12 Engineering secures major subsea contract with Norwegian oil & gas operator

T12 Engineering has secured a major contract with an independent Norwegian oil and gas operator to design and manufacture a 60-tonne modular subsea structure, further strengthening its position in one of Europe’s key energy markets.

The Teesside-headquartered engineering specialist, which also operates from Glasgow and Edinburgh, will lead the full engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) scope for the project. The structure is mission-critical to the safe operation of subsea equipment in the Norwegian Sea.

While the operator remains undisclosed due to confidentiality agreements, T12 Engineering believes successful delivery could pave the way for further opportunities across Scandinavia.

A defining feature of the 59m² structure, scheduled for installation in Q3 this year, is its modular design. It has been engineered to fit within standard shipping containers, allowing for streamlined delivery by land or sea from the company’s North East fabrication base. This approach significantly reduces transportation costs and enables the structure to be repurposed for future subsea applications.

T12 collaborated closely with fabrication partners during the concept phase to optimise the design, enhance material efficiency and control costs – a key factor in securing the award.

The system will be built to meet the operator’s internal quality assurance and HSE requirements, alongside all relevant DNV and NORSOK standards. T12 will also deliver a full documentation and smart data package to ensure complete traceability across design, testing and fabrication stages.

Although T12 Engineering has supported the operator on smaller projects over the past 18 months, this marks its first major contract with the client. It follows the opening of its Oslo office last year – a move that has helped solidify its foothold in the region.

Graham Melroy, Director at T12 Engineering, said:

“This is a significant milestone for T12. Securing our first major award with this operator marks an important step forward, and we see the project as a catalyst for building long-term relationships across Scandinavia.”

Fellow Director Andrew Hughes added:

“The award highlights the depth of expertise within our team and its ability to deliver high-integrity subsea solutions on complex projects. It also demonstrates the value of continued investment in strengthening our international presence.”

T12 Engineering, which recently announced a strategic partnership with Priner Serviços Industriais S.A., one of Brazil’s leading industrial and engineering service providers, has extensive experience delivering subsea engineering solutions designed to extend asset life.
