Yorkshire-based manufacturer Specialist Glass Products has completed a £1.2 million investment in what is described as the UK’s largest glass processing machine, significantly expanding its manufacturing capability and positioning the business for sustained long-term growth.
The capital upgrade forms part of a wider 12-month investment programme across the company’s factory, equipment and digital infrastructure, strengthening its ability to meet increasing demand from architects and specifiers for complex, large-scale and sustainable glazing solutions.
The advanced machinery enables Specialist Glass Products to manufacture glass up to 3210mm x 6000mm and process glass up to 6m x 3.2m, including polishing, drilling, washing and jetting. The capability is matched by very few competitors in the UK market.
Alongside the factory investment, the company has launched a new website, developed by Fishtank Agency, to reflect the scale and technical complexity of projects now undertaken by the business.
Andrew Taylor, Managing Director at Specialist Glass Products, comments: “Our business has evolved significantly since our previous website launch, and we felt it was time for our online presence to accurately represent the high-profile projects we are now undertaking on a regular basis”.
Among the company’s standout projects in 2025 are the Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh, which incorporated 6,000 curved and flat laminated glass panels, and the supply of toughened glass for the internationally recognised landmark, Top of the Rock in New York. Specialist Glass Products also delivered bespoke double glazing for the Flockton water tower transformation.
Visitors to the new website can take a virtual tour of the factory, explore product capabilities and meet the team behind the business, offering insight into the firm’s end-to-end manufacturing expertise.
For the year ending March 2025, the company reported turnover of £10.5 million, supported by a workforce of 100 employees, underlining its position as a stable and growing UK manufacturer.
Andrew continues: “2026 is predicted to be another great year for us, and we’re excited to be working on some significant projects that are yet to be announced.”
