Booth Industries (Booth) has secured a major new contract worth over £7.5 million to supply high-integrity steel doorsets for HS2’s Old Oak Common station. The Bolton-based firm has also been awarded a strategically significant, multi-year contract to maintain tunnel doors on the Elizabeth Line for Transport for London.
These latest wins follow a £4.5 million pressure-rated fire door contract awarded to Booth in January for another phase of the HS2 programme.
Together, the contracts further cement Booth’s reputation as a trusted delivery partner for major rail infrastructure projects worldwide. The company integrates design, engineering, manufacture, installation and maintenance capabilities to provide full life-cycle support.
Mike Jenkinson, managing director of Booth Industries, said:
“These new contracts are great news for our business and recognise the wide range of expertise available at Booth.
“We are delighted that BBVS selected us for the HS2 work. This reflects the value placed on our unmatched design and manufacturing expertise that has been developed over decades and honed, more recently, through our work for a variety of high-profile projects including Crossrail, the Northern Line extension and earlier phases of HS2.
“The TfL contract extension highlights the effectiveness of our maintenance offer, which we have worked hard to develop over recent years. This combines decades of industry expertise with a market-leading service offering to ensure performance-critical infrastructure operates effectively and safely throughout its working life.”
Old Oak Common is set to become one of the UK’s busiest rail hubs, linking HS2 with the Elizabeth Line and National Rail services. The HS2 doorsets will be central to ensuring passenger safety, fire integrity and secure access control in one of the country’s most high-profile transport environments. Manufactured at Booth’s Bolton facility, the doors are engineered to meet multiple performance requirements and constructed to deliver long-term durability and protection.
Austen Adams, divisional managing director of Avingtrans PLC’s Advanced Engineering Solutions division, which includes Booth Industries, added:
“It is great news that Booth Industries has once again been chosen to support performance-critical parts of our nation’s rail infrastructure through these two, high-profile contracts.
“The Booth name is synonymous with high-integrity doorsets that meet the most demanding safety and performance standards, and its reputation for delivering complex infrastructure projects around the globe continues to grow.
“The team recently developed a new range of market-leading doorsets that offer unparalleled fire performance of more than four hours. The lessons learned from this innovation helped inform the designs for the new HS2 contract, and underscore our commitment to investing in people, plant and process to position Booth as the specialist provider for high-integrity doorsets around the world.”
